Explore some of Prague’s most romantic corners while taking a very different look at love. We’ll walk through Kampa, the streets of Malá Strana and Petřín Park, uncovering stories of relationships shaped by feminism, resistance, ambition and social expectations. Along the way, you’ll meet rebels, lovers and partners in resistance, from Milada Horáková and Bohuslav Horák to Charlotte and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, as well as the complicated relationship between Olga Scheinpflugová and Karel Čapek. We’ll also question some of the stories we traditionally call romantic. Together, we’ll unpack the myth surrounding poet Karel Hynek Mácha and take a critical look at Valentine’s Day, Czech May 1st traditions and the line between passionate love and toxic behaviour. This seasonal tour runs around Valentine’s Day in February and again around May 1st, the traditional Czech day of lovers, when Petřín fills with blooming trees and kissing couples.

Why we love this experience
- Culture:
Averil's walk actively works against the erasure of women's agency from Czech romantic and historical narrative, replacing nostalgia with a more honest account of what these relationships actually were. It's narrative correction as much as storytelling: rewriting who gets remembered, in a city where only around 5% of streets honour women.
- Community:
Prague Feminist Tours exists because there was nowhere for English-speaking travellers to find this side of Czech history — a gap most city tourism doesn't think to notice, let alone fill. Beyond the walk itself, Averil channels part of what her tours raise toward Czech organisations working on the ground.
- Participation:
This isn't a tour that lets you stay comfortable in the postcard version of Prague. Being asked to hold both the romance and the reckoning — to fall for Kampa's charm and question what "romantic" has actually meant for the women who lived it — is its own kind of active participation, even without a hands-on task attached. Reviewers describe leaving moved, sometimes to tears, which says something about how much this asks of you emotionally rather than physically.

Mission
Hi, I’m Averil! I’m French, I’ve been living in Prague since 2019, and my background is in gender studies, gender equality and human rights. When I moved here, I became fascinated by Czech women’s history but I was surprised by how difficult it was to find accessible information about it in English. I also started noticing whose stories were visible around the city, and whose were missing. Only around 5% of Prague streets named after people honour women, while traditional historical narratives still tend to focus on kings, generals and male political figures. That’s why I created Prague Feminist Tours. Through my walks, I bring women, queer people, activists and overlooked social movements back into Prague’s story. My aim is to make feminist history accessible, engaging and relevant and to help people leave seeing both Prague and history a little differently.
Impact
Prague Feminist Tours is a small independent project rooted in local research, feminist values and a love of sharing Prague beyond the usual tourist narratives. My tours bring together travellers, expats and people who live in Prague, creating space for conversation and connection. I also introduce participants to contemporary Czech feminist and LGBTQ+ organisations, campaigns, cultural projects and community spaces, so discovering the city can lead to discovering the people working to change it today. Since launching in August 2023, nearly 2,000 people have joined more than 200 tours. Through special fundraising walks, the project has also raised around 15,000 CZK for Czech NGOs. Prague Feminist Tours was a finalist in the Czech Social Impact Award in 2025 and shortlisted for the Czech SDGs Awards in 2026.
